Pine Lane Updates
SEPTEMBER 2022
Updates will be published the 2nd & 4th Friday of every month

Principal MessagePine Lane Crew,

What a busy week!  We joined in with the Chaparral Feeder to celebrate Homecoming Week!  It was so fun to see all the school spirit during our dress-up days and to join in the Homecoming Parade. Tonight is the Chaparral Homecoming Football game at 6:00 pm.  Hopefully, many of you can make it out for this fun event.  This week Buster the Bus came to visit our Kindergartners. We also had several in-school field trips.  3rd grade had the Denver Zoo come in to cap off their language arts unit on Animal Adaptations.  1st grade also brought in Safari Party to give their students some hands-on experience with reptiles.  All of these types of experiences build students' background knowledge and help to promote reading and listening comprehension.  I encourage you all to find ways to activate your child’s curiosities with the natural world and let their natural tendency to learn run rampant.

The physical and emotional safety of our Crew is of utmost importance.  Next week, our school will be practicing several of our safety protocols.  In school, we regularly practice the following standardized protocols laid out by the I Love you Guy’s Foundation: Lockdown, Evacuation, Secure, Shelter, and Hold.  These protocols are practiced in collaboration with district security and law enforcement.  I want you all to be aware that on Friday, next week, we will be practicing our Lockdown drill which can sometimes cause some anxiety for students.  I encourage you to have conversations with your child about this.  And while the news broadcasts the tragedies that happen at schools.  Schools still statistically remain one of the safest places to be, even outranking the home.

We are headed into the final stretch of the first quarter.  Next week, Discovery Classes will hold our first Habit of Character Assembly focusing on Perseverance.  The following week we will be launching Candy Wars as we get prepped for our annual “Fall Festival.”  The week of October 10th will be Parent/Teacher conferences.  Please be watching for the sign-ups for those from your child’s teacher here shortly.  And then the following week is fall break.

Lastly, our SAC/PTO meeting will be held next Wednesday from 4:30-7 pm in the Innovation Lab at North.  This will be an in-person meeting.  We will have some refreshments available.  We welcome you all to come out and join us for this meeting. We will be discussing the Bond and MLO, Pine Lane’s Unified Improvement Plan, and Upcoming PTO Events and needs. We hope that you all can make it out.  Your input and involvement are highly appreciated and valued.

Have an incredible weekend!  Hopefully, your children enjoy the extra day off!
