Pine Lane Crew,
There is so much to celebrate this week at Pine Lane. Many of our classes celebrated the Lunar New Year. 5th grade welcomed back the Colonial Lady to enrich their study of early United States history. Our 6th graders registered for their elective classes at Sierra. Our classroom teachers were able to get out of their classrooms and observe their colleagues' teaching. Our third-grade team led our Habit of Character Assembly and highlighted our Habit of Character Service. They have initiated a school-wide effort to donate new books to Children’s Hospital. If you are able, please send books in with your child, they can give those to their teacher or the main office. Our Healthy School Team is also collecting Valentine's Day cards for Seniors. All of these activities align perfectly with our mission to empower excellence in character, achievement, and contribution to a better world. I am so proud of our students and staff’s efforts to daily live this out.
I’d also highlight that our School Accountability Committee met on Wednesday. I shared our recent iReady Testing results. A major celebration is an increase in our median growth for both Reading and Math. Reading increased from 58% in 2021 to 65% this year. Math increased from 46% in 2021 to 55% this year. Many of our students had much more than 100% growth already and we are only half-way through the year. Here is the link with our iReady celebration and our next steps: 2022-23 Midyear IReady Highlights. Our next meeting will be February 22nd.
We have a number of things coming up quickly. Next week, we launch into our 2nd annual Dance Week. StuCo is going to host a fundraiser to get Mr. Kyle and Mr. Jimmy a new tractor to plow snow. This will be a Glow Dance hosted during the day on February 14th. Please watch for information on this next week. PTO is also working diligently on organizing our 2nd Annual Silent Auction, which will take place in March during Parent/Teacher Conference. Thank you to so many of you who are making this possible!
Lastly, I want to recognize this year Spelling Bee Champion and Runner Up! Congratulations to Wyatt in Mr. Hank’s class on winning this year's Spelling Bee! We wish you the best of luck next Saturday at the District Spelling Bee. Also, congratulations to Darshan in Ms. Kawamura’s class, our Runner Up. All of our 27 qualifying spellers did an amazing job in the Spelling Bee and we are proud of you all.
Have a wonderful weekend!
