Early Childhood Education is part of the Student Support Services of Douglas County School District. We provide innovative and effective learning environments that are proven to positively impact long-term academic achievement and social-emotional development in nearly 70 preschool classrooms across the district.

We Value The uniqueness and learning potential of our youngest learners, a qualified, knowledgeable, and prepared staff who promote the learning and development of the whole child, the role of parents in the education of their children and being a part of the public education system and our community partners.

Our Focus To create an optimal play-based, early learning environment that enables all preschoolers to develop ready-to-learn skills.  Learning opportunities are maximized through nurturing & responsive relationships and a variety of differentiated, instructional approaches. Our ECE teams are cognizant of the whole child and facilitate the development of foundational social-emotional, physical, language, and pre-academic skills in our youngest learners by utilizing developmentally appropriate, child-centered practices. We implement a fully inclusive educational environment that celebrates diversity and promotes a rigorous, high-quality, play-based approach to learning. Special Education records which have been collected by Douglas County School District related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of special education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for the period of five (5) years after special education services have ended for the student. Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, or completes his/her educational program at age 21, or moves from the district.
