Happy Friday Pine Lane Crew,
We continue to move through the school year and this week flew by. It was nice to feel the sun out a little bit more than normal and the snow on the ground this morning was so beautiful. I am so proud of our Kindergarten Crew who sent an incredible message to our entire Crew yesterday, reminding us of the importance of Respect and how showing respect for ourselves, others and our world is a critical part of being Crew! Thank you Kindies! The Chaparral Feeder also debuted our new feeder video highlighting what we are all about and the importance of our connectedness and collective effort. If you missed check out the video here: Chap Family.
Next week, our 3rd - 6th Grade students will participate in the Colorado Measures of Student Success (CMAS). There are many of the benefits to having your child participate in the State Assessment for your child, yourself, and the school. CMAS is scheduled for next Monday through Wednesday. .
Benefits to Students and Families
- The tests help students, families, and educators know how students are performing compared to their peers across the state. They also help inform student academic growth over time.
- The statewide assessments provide information on how well the state’s education system is meeting the goals of helping every child attain academic proficiency.
- Assessment results help students, parents, schools, and districts understand if students have mastered the content they need to know by the end of the school year and whether they are on track for college or careers after graduation.
- Assessment results let parents/guardians know how their student is doing compared with their peers across the school, district, and state.
Benefits to Schools
- School ratings are based on average scores on state assessments as well as growth students show from year to year on assessments.
- Data from state assessments can help schools (and feeders of schools) build master schedules, offer appropriate coursework, and meet the needs of all students, particularly as they transition from one school to the next.
Truly, this has become a metric of our school’s performance that I rely on greatly to inform us of the effectiveness of our efforts. It allows us to better calibrate the expectations we set in the classroom with what is laid out in the State Standards. We strongly encourage your child's participation and best effort. Thank you for your help in making these three days of assessment exciting and purposeful. We will seek to make this a meaningful experience for our entire Crew. At the end of next week, we will also be kicking off the Chaparral Feeder Wish Week. Through this, we partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make a positive differences in a child’s life. It really is a privilege and honor to be apart of this work and it is incredible to the entire feeder come together for this great cause.
Have a great week, Pine Lane Crew!
Sincerely,
Chris Stairs
